Kraven the Hunter is set to release on December 13, 2024 that delves into the origins of the infamous villain, Sergei Kravinoff, as he transforms into a big-game hunter. With its release date looming near, not much is certain about the movie, particularly its standing in the vast, amorphous shared universe of Sony’s Spider-Man-adjacent movies.
Kraven the Hunter may prove to be the last installment for now in the ongoing wave of movies related to Sony’s Spider-Man. Still, based on the development process, with the movie having been held up multiple times over the course of years, this iteration of Kraven may well show up in future films, perhaps taking on Spider-Man. Despite all that is known about the villain-centric film, Kraven the Hunter may be a success and a surprise for viewers.
Kraven the Hunter: Plot
Trailer
This movie synopsis, Kraven the Hunter is an origin story about the formative years of Sergei Kravinoff. The description of him as an “animal lover” who protects nature explains his life of dedication and his violent personality. Kraven’s father, Nikolai Kravinoff runs a massive crime empire while both Nikolai and Kraven have bad relationship terms with one another with their violent tendencies. This is brought out in the trailer of the movie by Dmitri Smerdyakov, Kraven’s half-brother also known as The Chameleon. As Kraven grapples with his legacy and his strained bond with his father, he transforms into one of the world’s most notorious hunters.
More supporting characters have been added such as mercenary Aleksei Sytsevich who turns into the Rhino from some mysterious serum and The Foreigner, another mercenary also a Spider-Man villain in the comics. Kraven is accompanied by Calypso, a voodoo priestess and love interest, appearing just like in the comics. The story has largely remained the same through months of development yet new trailers kept the story in the fans’ eyes more.
One of the main factors that have been dragged to the forefront by the fans is that Kraven is an “animal lover.” It was thought that the hunt personality of the character might be played behind the curtains; however, it appears that this film does not run behind the curtains of being a world-class hunter. However, what the screen adaptation would finally reveal is unknown, and audiences can only wait until December for the big revelation.

Kraven the Hunter and the Future
Kraven is confirmed to be in a different universe for different SSU films. Even one belonging within the universe of Venom in those movies. But since it’s not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that poses a question whether this Kraven will meet up with the Tom Holland Spider-Man or another version. But as the MCU is looking forward to its Multiverse Saga that can possibly let Kraven meet that universe’s version of Spidey, there are possibilities of crossover with other Spider-Man iterations.
Conclusion
It all depends on how the movie will be received, since it might be the end of this iteration of the SSU. Future MCU developments, such as Avengers: Secret Wars, might be a reboot, bringing all of Marvel’s characters under one cohesive narrative. Whether or not that happens, Kraven the Hunter promises to deliver thrilling action to the SSU unlike anything seen before.
