critical flaws

  • Predictable Plot: Critics found the plot stereotypical and unimaginative. There were moments in which one could see what would happen next. Thereby, they would end up disappointed.
  • Underdeveloped Characters: The characters involved-the pilot, the marshal, and the witness-were perceived to be unrelatable, with a very little back-story, so they would be easy to understand.
  • Generic Dialogue: The dialogue was essentially stereotypical, archaic, and flat-lacking wit or liveliness. This, in turn, limited audience participation and engagement.
  • Action Overkill: The movie had not-too-shabby action scenes; however, there were complaints about excessiveness and its botched execution. The stunts were outlandish-most of the time-and drained suspense and tension from the scene.
  • Lack of Suspense: “Flight Risk” is a thriller, yet the movie does not build up or maintain suspense. The pace is uneven; sometimes it even falls back to using cheap jump scares instead of true tension.

“Flight Risk” seems to have been too much to promise. With all the ingredients to be an intriguing film, featuring a great cast and an intriguing premise, something went wrong because the movie apparently had predictable moments, poorly developed characters, and action scenes that were underwhelming. All this may have played a role in the film failing to capture its audience’s attention, which ultimately sealed its fate at the box office.
