Re:Zero Season 3 begins a year after the events that took place in the previous season. Subaru, now stronger and more determined than ever, having gone through all that tough training, is now living a relatively peaceful life as he commits himself to Emilia’s ascension into becoming the next queen. However, this peacefulness is soon disrupted when he receives an invitation from Anastasia Hoshin to travel to the Watergate City of Priestella. What seems to be a pretty simple request triggers a whole series of events that will test Subaru like never before, throwing him headfirst into new challenges. 

Episodes 1-8 Recap 

Episode 1: “Theatrical Malice” 

  • One year has passed since the battle in the Sanctuary. Subaru continues his training and assists Emilia in her election campaign.
  • He receives a letter from Anastasia Hoshin, extending an invitation to Priestella, a bustling city where a merchant may possess a crucial magic crystal that Emilia desperately needs.

A Brief Lull Before the Storm

Even though this suspense about Episode 9 may be trying for fans, it’s much needed to ensure that the second half of Season 3 does justice to its previous half.
